Luigi,

If you imagine the yellow cap as red, it will look just like A. muscaria you find in CA. This the Eastern version which until recently was called A. muscaria var. formosa, apparently because a look alike grows on the island of Formosa. See, even mycologists can be fooled.

Hello everybody...

I'm a new member from northern Québec... so mushrooming for me is 3 months in the bush and 9 months dreaming... but in my place I'm probably the only mushroomer in a 30 miles radius...

I'm a biologist with a specialisation in human biology and bacterial genetics... I'm particulary interest in medicinal mushrooms but i'm fascinated by anything alive...or not... I'm an amateur rock collector(I'm from one of the most rich region of the world for gold)... I try to grow subtropical fruits species in a boreal climat(near artic sometimes...)... I'm a lumber producer... a hunter, fisherman and I recently start trapping... I also collect all kind of wild fruits...

please excuse my mistake... I'm a french canadian and english language is only a second language for me... but at least I try ;)

Guill,

You do very well in English, much better than I do with my high school French. Listen, if you hit a rich vain of gold, let me know and I will come up and help you carry it out to civilization

How long have you been drinking Chaga tea and how did you learn about it?

Shroominator, great to see you back here. I'd also like to welcome a new member to the board, Merry mortal who has come all the way from Wellington, New Zealand to be with us. Welcome to the board. If you have any questions about how things work around here, please let me or one of the mods know and we will do what we can to help you. Feel free to post photos all you want! I'm sure members here would love to see more of the fungi New Zealand has to offer which is quite different from what we have in the US.

Hi,Everybody -

We just found your site, thanks to member DufferinShroomer, who we see did a post letting people know about our website, www.MadAboutMushrooms.com.

We live near the sleepy little Southern Oregon coast town of Port Orford, and our website focuses on our area (mushrooms and otherwise), the rest of the Pacific Northwest (especially the Mt. Hood area, where we've had a small cabin for many years) and mushrooming in general. We have a cooking section (including an annual recipe contest!), news and views, and species specific articles (one on Chanterelles will be added later this week). For those interested, we even have a small retail section offering mushroom print fabrics, and all kinds of other mushroomy things. We're not degreed mycologists, but have been enthusiastic amateurs for some 30 years now, and we're always learning new things.

We like your site a lot, and will try to check in every once in a while as time allows. Thanks for allowing us to join!

Steve and Mary Taylor, a.k.a.

Greetings to all you mushroomers! I found my way to this forum from Facebook, and look forward to reading a lot of good stuff, both now and in future!

I have always been interested in wild mushrooms for their beauty, and as a potential source of something delicious, but am no expert! They say there are bold mushroom hunters and there are old mushroom hunters, but there are no old, bold mushroom hunters. At the age of 70, guess I am not a bold one. There's always something to learn.

Hi Everyone!

Vlad recommended this forum when I emailed him at his site with a question. While being pretty reluctant to join any online forum, I have been coaxed out from under my rock by the need to seek out the company of people who understand my mushroom obsession. You appear to be a great group: no bravado or intimidation tactics, just a great deal of comradery!

I am very excited to tackle this next mushroom season in such good company.

Hi, Tamara. I LOL at "..coaxed out from under my rock". Guess we all know that feeling.

Yes, this is a nice little forum, not too huge to get to know people or be intimidating. I haven't been here that long but find it a very friendly place.
