  1. Maybe this one https://www.mushroomexpert.com/strobilomyces_confusus.html
  2. I believe what you have is either P. Dryinus or P. levis. From what I know they’re somewhat difficult to distinguish. I don’t have first hand experience with these . I helped someone ID these years ago here in Louisiana from shared pictures.... I don’t believe these are Lentinus. Note the gills on your specimen. I would say they are not irregular nor serrated
  3. I second A. campetris If pesticides or herbicides are sprayed I WOULD NOT eat them. Agaricus is known to absorb chemicals sprayed
  4. Good to see ya back Staveshaver!!! Beautiful chantys ya have there !! Shaving any staves lately ? I still haven’t made the switch to stick and string. I’m shooting a compound for the third year. Doing ok. Big choke last year on a bruiser but ya can’t beat them all. Rookie mistake. Lowered my bow down seconds too early 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤢🤢
  5. All traits point to Agaricus sp. Except the red cap. Maybe mold ??
  6. You would probably get better response posting in ID thread. Also get pictures of the entire mushroom, close up and underneath the cap. Welcome to the forum!!
  7. Welcome aboard!! Few members form PA here.
  8. Yes I’d say chicken of the woods, L.sulphureus. Looks to be a bit past prime. Note the white substance on life surface. Looks to be some kind of mold. Add the worms/ maggots crawling out, I’d toss out. Keep and eye on that tree for years to come. Should fruit again. Great find !! Congrats!!
  9. Very jealous. Have yet to locate them here in the south
  10. Gorgeous indeed!! Wish I were able to locate another. I was just getting started with wild mushrooms and it never occurred to me that this may have been a very rare find.
  11. Hello from Louisiana!! Welcome aboard!!
  12. Really?! White chantys in Florida????
  13. I’ve witnessed some similar to these in the spring here in south central Louisiana. Only honeys I’ve harvested for the table with confidence were found in the winter
  14. Welcome aboard Moe !!! Just a few states over in Louisiana. Plenty of fungi to be found this time of the year. Chantys are just getting started. Plenty of moccasins to be found as well!! Be careful and happy hunting!!
  15. Well heck. I’ll have to try this again. It wasn’t an enormous amount to be discouraged about. Thanks Johnny !! According to my calendar Agaricus campetris ought to be out in full force next couple weeks!!
  16. Never dried oysters before but I experimented with some Agaricus campetris a couple years ago and had the same experience. Ended up tossing them out.
  17. Welcome aboard. Quick little story..... had a few bags of laetiporus in the freezer. Some par boiled some not. Accidentally made jerky with the raw instead of the par boil. Took to work and let a few people sample it. Everyone including my self had mild symptoms...... nausea mostly. Make sure it is cooked thoroughly. Horrible feeling to have half your crew sick. Happy hunting
  18. Typically what happens to a post on MO after a few people look it over and vote on the proposal?
  19. Nice !!! Did my first skull mount with him as well. Boiled in water a few times and pressure washing it. Is that natural color on horns ?
  20. Welcome aboard!! Just a few states over myself. Plenty of chantys to be found in oak forest here in Louisiana. Red chantys can be found in pine forest here as well. Happy hunting!! Side note .... I’m a deer hunter by trade lol. I’ve got the bow fever pretty bad. First archery kill, first buck ever. Public land
  21. Welcome!! Great to see some folks from the home state!!!
  22. Welcome to the forum !! Not sure what ya have there. But I second svs. I’d keep an eye on the button mushroom and get photos at different stages of it’s growth, then harvest when mature to get a better idea of key IDing characteristics. Post your findings as you go along 👌
  23. Excellent!! Wasn’t sure if I had to email you more pictures regarding the size. Been pretty busy today. I was going to email you tonight. Location is fine. Thanks again. Looking forward to spore size
