Z-Unit22
Thinking about going Chanterelle hunting for the first time ever. I think I have some coniferous woods near me that I wanted to check out. Anyone been finding at Chants this season or lately?
Kevin Hoover
Chanterelles have been up at several spots in the woods behind my house. I’ve talked to several people who have found batch of them here in central Pa. But I’d check for sunny spots and along paths in oaks and mixed woods. JOHNY
Good luck I live just a shade north of International Falls MN. Chanterelles started early July and there are none as of Aug 18th. A good six week heavy harvest. Waiting for fall mushrooms now.... honeys, various suillus, fall oysters, hedgehogs
Foulhook
Been a very good chant year. I have a couple pounds growing right in my yard. Went out a few times with them as a target. Came home with many pounds each time. Black trumpets plentiful as well.
Staveshaver
This was the best chanterelle season we've had here in Western Pa for about the last five years, and I totally missed it. I knew it had the potential to be good, but was too busy getting my mom's house ready to sell. I finally went out last weekend and found thousands of them in each of my best spots, but they were buggy and deteriorating. The carnage was sad to see. I managed to salvage just a few. I'll won't let that happen again. Here's a big one I found. Had to be 10 or 12" across.
