  1. Pike county pa… check my early elm spots today. Maybe 25 seen in total. All only about an inch tall. Hopefully the coming rain will get them ready for harvest in the next week or so.
  2. I’m in the poconos.. it hasn't started yet here. You’re only a couple hours south. Things are just getting going where you are. Will likely get going after the warm temps the next week along with the rain. April 24th is the earliest I have ever found a morel
  3. Been a very good chant year. I have a couple pounds growing right in my yard. Went out a few times with them as a target. Came home with many pounds each time. Black trumpets plentiful as well.
  4. Out for an hour today after all the recent rain. More black Trumpets than I have ever seen, massive chants and B Separans … all plentiful right now
  5. Thanks for the reply Dave, hope you’ve been well. I agree with your proposal .. I have also seen a lot of these around the last couple weeks. I could have probably harvested 5 lbs yesterday. Have you consumed Xanthoconium purpureum? They smell exactly like B separans to me. Spore printed yielded a golden brown color on foil
  6. Found in mixed hardwood predominantly oak. Cap is a brick red color and pores are a light cream to white. No bruising on tubes or flesh .. not seeing reticulation on the stem though. Was hoping Boletus subcaerulescens.. but not confident on that ID. Did find lots of B. separans today though.
  7. Old man of the woods is a bolete (polypore) . I see gills on this one. Not old man of the woods IMO
  8. Looks like young Bondarzewia berkeley to me. Let’s see what others have to say though
  9. That time of year is finally upon us! Been impatiently waiting. Got out today and check my ramp spots. With the warm weather coming morels shouldn’t be far behind 😁🤙
  10. Went out yesterday for just a few hours. 4 perfect hens and plentiful honeys.. guess those last few days of rain finally paid off.
  11. Hey man, just letting you know I decided to check a hen spot today and got a perfect specimen 👍.. there is still some hope.
  12. I wish I could say things exploded but that’s certainly not the case in NEPA. I haven’t found anything desirable. Hoping for a better season next year. Very nice haul Kevin! I’m very jealous. I normally harvest about 5 lbs of lilac bolete (Seperans) in my yard. Have some white pine spots normally loaded with painted suillius and zero this year. Same thing with honeys, hens, chants, etc. nothing! Worst year ever for me
  13. Wow! Saying a prayer for the same thing to happen here! Impressive haul I stand corrected. I did find some chickens recently. Other than that absolutely nothing. Hoping for consistent weekly rain. Maybe we’ll get lucky
  14. Northeast PA had a pretty bad drought this summer. I have been here 20 years and never seen a drought like this one. After morel season I literally saw zero mushrooms this year. What are the chances this last 4 days of heavy rain will save the fall season? We went from a dessert to a rice patty in 4 days. Sump pump is still running this morning.
  15. Yes you did and it appears to be on hemlock which is ganoderma tsugae.. I just harvested a bunch last weekend. They are now in jars making tincture
  16. I hope you’re right! I’ve been counting the days for a long time now. Had good luck with enoki in mid January but that was the last time I’ve been out. Will probably go check my Tulip poplar stands today and at least get a soil temp. Unfortunately none are south facing
  17. Very nice Dave! I was thinking this morning that it might be time to walk a few of my early spots……then I saw the forecast 😬…. What do you think the effect will be on this morel season?
  18. Just wanted to thank you for this forum! It’s been a huge resource for me over the last several years in getting to this wonderful hobby. I just sent y’all a couple hundred bucks. Keep up the good work! I almost had withdrawal symptoms from the site being down 😉

That is a huge help! Thank you so much! This unique community is so enjoyable to be a part of. It is what helped me get started learning about mushrooms. Several years back I found out that a new admin was needed for the site. I didn't want it to disappear so I took over hosting and managing the site.

I normally take on the costs that are not covered by the community. But with your donation and some others, this year the costs will be covered! Your donation will really help me get the hosting upgrade moving sooner than later. Then you hopefully shouldn't have anymore moments of withdrawal :)

      Thanks again!

  19. Absolutely NOT hen of the woods.
  20. I’m about 99% sure here. Just waiting on spore print. Growing in leaf litter under oak and spruce. Very smooth cap, lilac in color, broad stem and a pleasant aroma
  21. They are out up here in NEPA. Been finding them for the last 2-3 weeks. Get out there brother!
