Dave W
Looks like a species of Tricholoma. Although I would not rule out genus Entoloma. Spore print color would settle this question.
GCn15
I have tried several apps online for identifying mushrooms. Rarely have they gotten them right. Some were at least in the right genus and the mushrooms I used were mushrooms that were considered very easy to identify. Long story short, don't trust the apps. However, when really stuck they may provide a starting point. Sorry, there just are no shortcuts to demystifying mushrooms.
Dave W
Back to Vlad's post. Those photos show what I believe are at least two different species of gray Tricholoma mushroom. Often ID comes down to one subtle trait, like maybe scales vs. streaks on the cap surface. And, sometimes a given mushroom may not exhibit the typical version of such a trait. So, I think it's to be expected that any app would be prone to error.
bobby b
I have been posting on "I naturalist" and it's identity suggestion, when I work thru the posting, "sometimes" gets it right. Dave does a much better job.
Dude12o
Fungusid.com is a website I like to use to help me ID mushrooms. It is definitely is not perfect, but I find it helpful. Use other resources. I use it as a starting point, to give some possibilities.
Dave W
Most often, any initial suggestion at a mushroom ID is a "starting point". Personally, I like platforms like this where mushroom ID involves discussion and occasional skepticism.
