Dave W
I am not familiar with this the species/variety name "aureissimus var castaneus". Internet sources appear to suggest this is a variety of what has/had been called Boletus auripes. The mushrooms seen here do look like what I would call Boletus auripes. Mushroom Observer offers an interesting history of the name "Ceriomyces aureissimus var castaneus". Looks to me like this "species" is probably a variety of Boletus auripes. Given that genus Boletus is currently being revised --as per DNA analysis-- and new genera are being described for the purpose of housing species that don't fit the phyllogeny of genus Boletus, "auripes" may indeed now be placed into a genus other than Boletus. However, Index Fungorum says it's still in Boletus. https://mushroomobserver.org/name/show_name/59609
CamilleR
I was having trouble finding a picture of this dark capped type on the net. It looks just like the one on page 92 of the boletes of eastern NA. I figured a variant of auripes. I've found a few with yellow brown caps.
