shroomersue
From my latest search with the b. edulis type ones in oak, pine forest, this one I only took some pics and discarded it unfortunately cuz of slugs. Appears to have some bluing goin on, and light yellow pores, cap and stipe relatively same coloring.
Dave W
I can't quite tell if the stipe is reticulate... ie, with a thin raised "netting" on the surface. But I think it probably isn't. Funny that this one shows some blue staining. My first guess would be one of the Tylopilus species that do not stain blue --for example T. ferrugineus. The only blue-staining Tylopilus species I know are T. pseudoscaber and T. sordidus. The one seen in the is post does not look like either of these. Does it taste bitter or mild? shroomersue
Unfortunately I did not taste test this one. No netting on stipe. I passed this one up in my search and now looking at my gathered photos, I am intrigued by this one.
