Michaelrhizal
Found this in Western NC today in a hardwood forest. The cap is light brown and only about an inch wide. The stem is very bulbous. Very small white pores. No signs of bruising. Any help is appreciated.
Dave W
B. pseudopinophilus is a pine associate. There are a few possibilities for the species here. Assuming the taste is not bitter I'd consider B. nobilis or B. variipes, which are hardwood associates.
Michaelrhizal
I tasted it and it didn't have a bitter taste. I will take a look at B. Nobilis and B. Variipes. Thanks Dave.
