  1. I don't know. It did not smell like radish. It smelled delicious. The gills are free, but more so than the pluteus cervinus images that I have been able to find. There were others, all on dirt, under trees. All with the curled up edges. It's hard to see in the photo, but the whole cap had a pinkish tinge to it. It is the bottom left in taking a spore print. Very fragile, fell apart while taking the spore print.
  2. What part of the country are you in? What is the furthest south Chaga can grow?
  3. This mushroom had a waxy fragile cap, and a pinkish tan spore print. It was found in Oklahoma, on the hardwood oak/hickory forest floor, in early fall. As far as I could tell it exuded no milky latex.
  4. Thank you for responding! It was just an interesting thing to me. Wanted to hear other's experiences! 😊
  5. I am very sensitive to caffeine. It gives me heart palpitations, waves of anxiety up and down my body, and the shakes when I am coming off of it. One time I went to an event, and was offered some Mushroom Coffee, which supposedly had half the caffeine of regular coffee. I was given a small sample, which was about half of a regular styrofoam cup full. Not much! I had a HUGE reaction to that coffee! It was supposed to have Maitake, and some others in it. A few years later, I ate some morels, and had a similar, but milder reaction, this time without the coffee. I have never had this reaction with button, portabella, puffball, nor Shitake. Anyway, just curious if anybody else has noticed this kind of reaction to mushrooms, or if any mushrooms are known to have caffeine?
  6. Next time you get stung like that, scrape out the stingers, and look for some Plantain, to chew, and apply. I promise you, it will feel a lot better! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL pictures!
  7. Hi, I live, and own woodland in Oklahoma! I have been foraging for years. I consider myself a mushroom identification toddler. I know enough to be dangerous to myself, and others, lol! I am cautious by nature, and a believer in proper ID. As such, hopefully I won't become an annoyance...
