Calvert Posted January 30 Report Share Posted January 30 Agreed, not C. violaceus. The base of the stem is distinctly bulbous marginate, quite unlike violaceus. The texture of the cap surface is different too. C. violaceus is quite easy to recognise. But there are a lot of other purplish Corts that are hard to distinguish from each other. The habitat and geographical region, whether the cap and/or the stem is viscid (slimy), the shape of the stem base, and the colour of the context (flesh inside) of both the cap and stem are important for identification.
