  1. I was a little late for my favorite, fiddleheads. They shot up in the warm weather last week! I walked by a spot where I found Reishi last year July 4th and they’re budding from the roots and trunk of a hemlock over the Ipswich River. Got to see woods anemone, marsh marigold, a wood ear, and Jack in the Pulpit. I love walking my dog in the woods on my day off and he likes to go slow and explore with me.
  2. Found this healthy little bolete today. It’s not bitter and no signs of staining whatsoever. Any idea on ID? Thank you!
  3. Any ideas on this mushroom’s identity? I am hoping it’s a wood blewit but not sure because it has very brown gills with some fuzzies. Thank you!
  4. I’ve seen this mushroom a couple of times and can’t find anything about it. I like the wavy cap and wavy gills; very funky. Any ideas?
  5. Saw these walking in the woods today. They are teeny tiny! I’m not sure if it’s too late in the season to be chanterelles but they look like it to me! Let me know what y’all think
  6. Hopeful they’re honeys but I’m so unsure!
  7. After looking around I think this is Russula virescens which the all knowing internet says is edible and good. I’ve always found tons of red russula which I’ve heard aren’t edible. Any tips are welcome thanks everyone!
  8. Sorry these pictures are pretty lame but it was sooo buggy and couldn’t stand still any longer. Any ideas? Pine forest/mixed trees Ipswich MA
  9. These were also growing from stumps at my mother in laws house in Bolton, Ma. They were stringy like a mozzarella string cheese when we pulled them apart and had a pleasant mushroomy smell. I’m so new to this that my only confidence in ID is with the likes of COW and Old Man of the woods. Thanks for helping me to learn the difference!
  10. Good Morning! I was driving to work yesterday and had to pull a U-turn when I saw this out of the corner of my eye. Three huge patches growing out of oak stumps next to a vegetable farm in Boxford, MA. Any info you guys can provide I will appreciate! Thanks
  11. I have been walking past this tree and curious about the fungus growing on it. I am hoping 🤞🏻that it is a young, immature Lion’s Mane. I have never seen on except in books, but this looks like it’s starting to form lil’ teeth. If anyone has experience with these, let me know thank you!
  12. Awesome thanks Kevin!!!
  13. Good morning! I am pretty confident that these are reishi mushrooms. I’d like to dehydrate them to make powder for some recipes I found, but want to be certain of the ID. I love you guys for helping me learn! If you can see, they are growing on a leaning but still living Hemlock tree on the Ipswich River. From what I have read they grow on hemlock stumps. thanks again for all you help!
  14. Rainy season here in Massachusetts! Lots of mushrooms popping up to notice on dog walks in the woods. Saw this cutie today- thinking it may be some type of bolete? Any ideas or tips?
  15. Thanks so much for the input!
