DShroomGuy
Found these growing in basically the same environment as the small orangish mushroom in the thread before with the orangish ones in my own yard. Maybe growing from underground roots of dead pines and cedars. If not just present in a sandy grass lawn with sticks/pine needles and such around. What y'all think? Should have a spore print ready when I get home later.
Jeff Falcone
I would start in Laccaria with these. They have the classic thick widely spaced adnate/slightly decurrent purple gills characteristic of the genus.
Dave W
Agree with Jeff; Laccaria. ID to exact species can be difficult in this genus.
DShroomGuy
Thanks much! Starting to see the similarities between genus' for sure. Y'all are definitely helping me along.
DShroomGuy
Spore print is pearl white for these mushrooms. Si white it's literally the same color as the paper.

Dave W
Yeah, Laccaria spore prints are white; although occasionally, if you get a very think print it may show a very pale lilac tinge.
DShroomGuy
Was researching and stumbled across certain laccaria to be edible. Is this correct?
Dave W
I don't know of any Laccaria species that is considered to be toxic; although I've sampled only a few of the species myself. I've tried eating two types --L. laccata (group) and L. ochropurpurea. I'd say the caps of L. ochropurpurea are pretty good. Not a lot of flavor but good texture; kinda chewy but not too tough. The stalks should be discarded; fibrous and probably difficult to digest. No confident species proposal for the mushrooms being discussed in this thread. DShroomGuy
Thanks Dave! I didn't collect any for that purpose either way. If I were to find the cool purple colored ones I'd wanna try those just because they look awesome...
