Dave W Posted October 26, 2020 Report Share Posted October 26, 2020 These look like Hypholoma lateritium, "Brick Caps". The cap color matches. H. lateritum has a more substantial partial veil than the other robust wood-inhabiting Hypholoma species (most commonly H. capnoides and H. fasciculare). The young gills are white. Of course, the biggest danger is confusion with Galerina marginata. But, one may learn to make this distinction in the field. Any such doubt can be alleviated via spore print; Galerina has a more vividly brown print with a rusty appearance. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
