Dave W
Species of Agaricus. Some are good edibles, others are toxic. It can be tricky IDing these to species. Any odor noted? Any staining? What is the habitat?
Chuck
Hello Definitely a Psalliote fr or Agaricus have some in fridge right now. DylanCole
Thanks guys! Normal mushroom odor to me. Something like Portobello. It stains red when cut.
Dave W
I recommend being cautious when it comes to consuming Agaricus mushrooms found in the wild. Some types will cause illness. Also, it is recommended to avoid Agaricus mushrooms found in an environment that may contain toxic substances... sides of busy roads, golf courses or other lawns where pesticides/herbicides are used, waste areas... Agaricus mushrooms are known to uptake toxins present in their habitat. Some Agaricus mushrooms are excellent edibles. The species of large mushrooms placed in section Arvenses (Horse Mushrooms) are really tasty. The cautionary note on habitat seen above applies to Horse Mushrooms.
