Does anyone know what this is

Recommended Posts

Hi, so another member can likely help you more with the ID for this mushroom, I can tell you it is a polypore though. There is no documented mushroom in North or South America that can harm you by touch. There are reports of one in SE Asia that can give you a rash, but even that seems dubious and not well documented. The only way to be hurt by a poisonous mushroom on this continent however is to swallow its flesh. When handling unknown species, it might be wise to just rinse your hands off afterwards, just as a precaution in case you were to say bite your nails or something,  but that's about the extent of the worry. I would be highly surprised if these mushrooms were poisonous however. Polypores are generally not, with a few exceptions.
