EatTheWeeds
I haven't been on here in a while, but... I found this polypore growing on a log. The top is very slightly fuzzy, and it smelled 'mushroomy', it has very small pores, and was very leathery. Doesn't look like turkeytail though. Any thoughts? brendan
Looks like Polyporus varius maybe? https://www.mushroomexpert.com/polyporus_varius.html
Dave W
Either Polyporus/Cerioporus varius or Polyporus/Cerioporus leptocephalus... if these are actually different species. Cerioporus is the current genus for these types. Flesh is thin but very tough.
