Squizzawizza
Hello all! I am quite new to this but studying vigorously, and taking the right precautions. I am also not ingesting anything I find for quite a awhile as I want to broaden my knowledge. I found this patch on an Ottawa path, shaded by a creek. It was on a fallen over tree, and I get the impression that it is a Dryads Saddle. If anyone can identify from the picture or if this mushroom has lookalikes for further study, I’d love to know! brendan
Hi, I am tempted to agree that may be a young dryads saddle but hesitantly. Did you happen to give them a whiff? The odor is one of the key distinguishing features. Should smell strongly of watermelon rind or cucumber.
Howard
Definitely a young dryads saddle, pheasant back, Polyporus squamosus, or Cerioporus squamosus. These are some in early development: .
