Toller
I found this in the open woods today. Thirty years ago I was a fairly serious mushroom hunter; I had no trouble eating amanita rubescens. But I gave it up when I had children; and now I don't trust myself to identify anything. Could it possibly be anything but the obvious?
Sunny_0ne
It doesn't look like the Amanita rubescens that grow on my property. And there's no way anyone should seriously try to identify it without a spore print, and photos of the stalk, base of stalk and gills. Dave W
Need more visual info. Underside? Interior? Stalk?
Toller
Can't give you a spore print because there aren't any spores; nor any stalk or gills.. I was really asking if it could be anything other than a giant puffball, but I guess I phrased it poorly.
ladyflyfsh
It is only good if it is pure white inside and firm. Once it starts coloring up, it is past the point of eating.

I understand, but my question is if it be anything other than a giant puffball.
