Dave W
I think these mushrooms represent one of the species in the Agrocybe praecox group http://www.mushroomexpert.com/agrocybe_praecox.html . This type mushroom grows in, wood chips, mulch, grassy areas, and sometimes near woody debris. Another possibility is Leratiomyces percevalii https://www.mushroomexpert.com/leratiomyces_percevalii.html . This is a West Coast species that also grows in wood chips or grassy areas. But, the gills don't look right for this species; ie. gills too broad, wrong shade of brown, spacing too wide. Spore print color would be useful here. If it's cigar-brown then Agrocybe. If it's very dark purplish/blackish-brown, then Leratiomyces. Spore shapes for the two types mentioned are similar, except L. percevalii has larger spores.
