Tree dwelling mushroom (No ID)

Recommended Posts

Need help identifying this mushroom. Have little experience outside of dendrology. Found while on a nature walk in the pinebarren region of New Jersey. Looking for a positive ID as I wasn't expecting to find Andy mushrooms this time of year.

Description:

Gills, found on a dead tree, has striations on the cap, very tattered.

Thank you,

This mushroom is well past prime. Characters are not distinctive. Mycena...? Maybe. Low confidence.

Yes it looks like it's had a rough past lol. Thought it was worth investigating. I found it in the middle of a rainstorm. Thank you for the input.
