Bheinn
Hi everyone. I found these attractive looking lilac mushrooms the other day and I believe them to be a certain sought-after cold tolerant edible mushroom, though as I have never come across them before I'd like to get them identified by someone more knowledgeable than I. They were found growing in debris under an oak tree that formed the periphery of a mixed species woodland near Bristol, UK. Cheers, B
GCn15
Odor? Spore print color? They could be blewits but it would be wise to rule out poisonous look alikes.
Dave W
I agree these look like a species of Lepista; probably either smallish examples of L. nuda (Blewits), or fairly large examples of L. tarda.
Bheinn
Thanks. Odor-wise they do smell of something but I wouldn't say it was floral like L. nuda is supposed to be. This is the spore print
Dave W
A species of Lepista. Difficult to say more.
