Olena
Found them today, didn't take home to check spore print. Could you please indentify them?
Dave W
Species of Hypholoma, probably H. lateritium (formerly H. sublateritium). Do you know the type of wood they're growing on?
Olena
Thank you Dave! I think you nailed it! I was searching over the internet, but didn't find similar looking mushrooms. It doesn't smell plesant as most of the wild eadible mushrooms. And it was growing on a fallen maple or oak, I didn't pay attention, sorry! Dave W
Growth on maple or oak (hardwood) suggests these are Hypholoma lateritium. A similar species --usually more yellow-- H. capnoides, usually grows on coniferous wood.
