Johnstantine
Hi all I'd like some help with identifying these mushrooms please. I'm thinking they are Cantharellus aurora and Hydnum rufescens. Both were found in Dartmoor mixed woodland growing from the ground. Currently waiting for spore prints. Many thanks in advance. Dartmoor is in the South West of England.
Kevin Hoover
The pictures with the teeth look like Hydnum umbilicatum (Hedgehogs or Sweettooth). No idea what the grilled ones are. Please seperate species into different threads in the future to avoid confusion over which are being commented on
vitog
The gilled mushroom looks a lot like Craterellus tubaeformis, which occurs in Britain according to Wikipedia. I'm not familiar with Cantharellus aurora, but it's described as similar to and closely related to C. tubaeformis. So, it could be either. Dave W
Hydnum species, difficult to pinpoint beyond the level of genus. The gilled mushroom is a species of Craterellus (genus split off from Cantharellus years back). In addition to C. tubaeformis I'd also consider C. ignicolor. Or, perhapa there's another species found in England (but not NA).
GCn15
I would go with H. Umbilicatum based on the navel type indent. Really just splitting hairs though.
