Caps 1-3 1/2" 2" long stems. thickness of a pinky. Cumberland county TN. I'm 2 yrs into growing and gathering so not to knowledgeable Many thanks for the help. I'd like to know if these are edible and it's possible the culture the spores. I'm very sorry if this is tmi or I missed something.
svs
Looks like agaricus. Some are good to eat some are not. Good usually have pleasant smell and no yellow staining. Bad one have chemical, creosote like smell and yellow staining especially at the base of a stem
Dig
This looks similar to the western flat-topped Agaricus, Agaricus meleagris. However this mushroom is supposed to have an unpleasant odor. Maybe Agaricus augustis Fr., “prince”, but it is suppose to have an almond-anise smell. Dave W
My guess is these are a species in the Agaricus campestris group (Meadow Mushrooms). These types tend to lack a prominent odor.
