Purple spored puffball?

I believe I have found a purple spored puffball, Calvatia cyathiformis, and am looking for confirmation.  Mushroom was found in an open grass field, no significant trees in the vicinity.  Size is just slightly larger than a softball with a round shape from the top, but somewhat flattened shape from the side.  Mushroom has very thick skin that reminds me of a pretzel bun in terms of color and cracking.  Skin and flesh are easily separated.  Flesh is pure white, soft, and smells very mild and slightly earthly.  There was a slight bit of yellow staining towards the base when slicing through.  I apologize for the pictures, had to take them in house, some with flash some without.  Any help is appreciated, as well as any cooking techniques if appropriate.
