Sarah1969
We found these in predominantly Hemlock woods in the Hudson Valley region of New York. They are growing on a stump that may be hardwood? I’m pretty new to mushroom identification - do these look like honey mushrooms? Thanks! Dave W
Not Armillaria (Honey Mushrooms). These are a species of Hypholoma, probably H. capnoides (given the coniferous setting) http://www.mushroomexpert.com/hypholoma_capnoides.html . If correct, spore print will be dark grayish/purplish-brown.
