Photos and description support proposal that this represents a species of Agaricus section Arvenses, a "Horse Mushroom". Looks like the gills have turned from a young gray to a mature dark brown without a pink stage, a trait associated with section Arvenses. The distinct species in this grouping differ microscopically. Here in eastern PA the most common species (at least during the past 10 years) seems to be A. crocodilinus. For the table, I avoid ones that are growing near busy roadways. Agaricus mushrooms are known to uptake undesirable substances from their surroundings.
