Natasha
The shape is similar to an oyster. Decurrent gills. Orange body, and appears to have orange spore print. Grew in a huge cluster at the base of a tree. Size of the extended adult hand. Images shown are on a dinner plate.
brendan
Might be putting my foot in my mouth here, I'm only two years into the hobby, but are you sure they aren't jack o'lantern mushrooms? https://www.mushroomexpert.com/omphalotus_illudens.html
Natasha
Thank you @brendan I think you might be right. Their size and colour threw me off. And they don’t glow in the dark.
rob
That would be my guess. Just doing a quick peek, at the site, tonight. Don't have time to give a "researched" answer however they are NOT OYSTERS. You replied at the same time. No they don't always glow. I think I've only seen it two or three times. Thank you @rob My first time finding Jacks.
Dave W
The "orange spore print" is likely because of the orange liquid that often oozes out of Omphalotus illudens has stained the paper towel. Assuming my suggestion here is correct, this is why I always advise to use non-porous/non-absorbent surface for spore printing. Although I check form time to time, I've actually only seen the glowing jacks once.
SamE
I have found something similar and am in a similar growing region - did you ever find out what these were and did you break any open?
Dave W
Natasha's orange mushrooms are almost certainly Omphalotus illudens (Jack 'o Lantern).
