Confused here, Suillus helenae?

Dig

Recommended Posts

8000ft apsen conifer forest.  No blue bruising noted.  Dry cap.  Going through the MD Boletaceae guide pg 489.

Another “bolete” was nearby ~50 ft. but had a light brown colored cap.  I should have taken a pic.

Last photo shows non-blue bruising at the top of the cap.  I waited 1-2 minutes from the squish to photo.

I don't know the boletes of SW NA well enough to comment on this ID. Certainly looks like a species of Suillus. I found very little online about the species S. helenae, and it's not documented in any of the bolete books I typically use. Is "MD Boletaceae" Mushrooms Demystified? (I think you mean page 498.) Arora says S. helenae occurs under lodgepole pine in coastal Oregon, and not much more.
