Dig Posted August 20, 2019 Report Share Posted August 20, 2019 8000ft apsen conifer forest. No blue bruising noted. Dry cap. Going through the MD Boletaceae guide pg 489. Another “bolete” was nearby ~50 ft. but had a light brown colored cap. I should have taken a pic. Last photo shows non-blue bruising at the top of the cap. Dave W Posted August 20, 2019 Report Share Posted August 20, 2019 I don't know the boletes of SW NA well enough to comment on this ID. Certainly looks like a species of Suillus. I found very little online about the species S. helenae, and it's not documented in any of the bolete books I typically use. Is "MD Boletaceae" Mushrooms Demystified? (I think you mean page 498.)
