Looking for an ID please, Ganoderma?

Looking for an ID please. Growing in sandy soil, closest trees were about 20 feet away, oak and yaupon holly. Harris County, TX, 8/12.

Looks like a "Varnished Ganoderma". There are a few tropical/subtropical genera of polypore that look somewhat liken this. But to my knowledge, these do not occur in mainland NA. May be a Ganoderma species I'm not familiar with.
