Lactarius Hygrophoroides?

Recommended Posts

Found near a creek, lowland mixed woods. No noticeable odor. Lots of milk, white, did not stain the gills. They got a bit smushed, I had a really good collecting day and my bag got a bit heavier than I should have let it. Thanks!

L. hygrophoroides typically does not stain very much, and it does not have much of an odor. The ones seen here look like L. hygrophoroides to me. Another somewhat similarly colored species with widely-spaced gills is L. subplinthogalus; this species has white latex that stains the gills pink.
