Interesting photos. On one hand the mushroom looks somewhat like one of the species in the Macrolepiota "procera" group. Not sure about whether species M. procera occurs in Trinidad. But there are a few similar North American species. These types are commonly called "Parasol Mushrooms", and --as far as I know-- are all considered to be edible.

However, the stalk seen here seems to be particularly dark for the M. procera types, and the cap shows marginal striations which is not a Macrolepiota trait. So, I think this may instead represent a species of Lepiota. How large is the cap on this mushroom?

Some species of Lepiota are dangerously poisonous. However, simply touching a mushroom and then licking your fingers may not convey enough toxin to produce a reaction. Do you have current access to these mushrooms? It would be a good idea to preserve some in the fridge, just in case you experience any sort of questionable symptoms you will have a sample to submit for analysis.

Sorry, I don't feel confident about telling you whether or not to expect a bad reaction. I would appreciate if you would follow up on this discussion and let us know if anything happens. I'm guessing you are not in danger.
