Found in my backyard

Recommended Posts

The overall appearance brings genus Agaricus to mind. But the white scales on the cap seem ore like Amanita. Not sure if I'm seeing the entire base of the stalk. Some types of mushrooms form genera Lepiota or Leucoagaricus look somewhat like this. Some species of Amanita are dangerously poisonous. A few types of Agaricus are known to cause illness.

Need more visual/descriptive information. Knowing the spore print color would help.

My advice is that wild mushrooms known to be toxic, or of an unknown identity, should be removed from areas where small children or pets spend a lot of time.
