Mushroom hunting Virginia

Greetings. First time posting on this site. I live in Virginia and have been looking at mushrooms since I've been reading about medicinal mushrooms. On a recent hike I discovered these. Anyone know what they are. I know they are brackets but not sure what.

Any help?

I would guess PERHAPS some type of Phellinus. Do you know what kind of tree they were on?

If you get some potassium hydroxide (or lye) and drip a bit on them, the spots will turn black

if it's a Phellinus.

How many different fruit bodies are shown in the photos? I agree that "Phellinus" seems like a good guess for the first few. But the 4th photo (from the top down) looks like Fomes fomentarius to me... could just be a Phellinus conk that's shaped like Fomes, though.
