Feral Boy
This has got to be on mine: http://mushroomobserver.org/image/show_image/313086?obs=129575&q=16CqP
Feral Boy
Ladyflyfsh, you should put this one on your list -- and you actually have opportunities to find it! http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/oct/02/barbie-pagoda-new-to-nature

I'm thinking it may be worth driving there from Spokane this year.
Pickinpox
Yeah I'm definitely gonna check that out. I've been working in Enumclaw, so I'm going to go east on 410. I usually go to the Randle, Packwood area...
Evan
I just want a better morel season than last year. However it looks like things might warm up early again. Last year the early spring gave way to cold temps and dry weather. We had basically a handful the whole season. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't have a repeat. I don't really have a new to find list. Last year was the first time we found chants and they were in abundance so I am just hoping we can do that again. We found about 10 lbs in one week. Good luck everyone and may the morchella be with you.
Luigi Daniele
Are chants ever found in the spring?
Evan
I found them in the summertime.
vitog
Luigi, here on the west coast of Canada, the earliest true Chanterelles appear around mid-July, if there is enough rain in early July. However, I've found Winter Chanterelles, AKA Yellowfoot, all winter long some years, lasting into April. They would be your best bet for springtime in California. I doubt that you would get enough summer rain for real Chanterelles before November (unless a typhoon hits California earlier). Chanterelles won't fruit without adequate rainfall. Thanks so much, sir! I will keep my eye out for them this spring. How do they compare in flavor to "real" Chants?
vitog
I like the Winter Chanterelles as much as Golden Chanterelles; and although small, they are easier to clean. Also, they dry well.

shroomersue
No. Too early for shrooms - just wanted to know if anyone has found any black trumpets in my area which is Toronto and surrounding areas. They have been elusive to my searches.
theplanets
Lots of rain predicted in the next 2 weeks around Toronto. I'm planning to go out next weekend. Hopefully weather will be cooperative!
osagebow
I'd like to find some of the "leatherbacks" my students' families collect.
