bobby b
I'm guessin' S coronilla. This was the only one there. Under tulip poplar with scattered black cherry. I don't think mushroomexpert had it in the woods. It was well past prime but has a delicate double ring that's ornamented on the bottom half. The color looks bluish grey on the gills and blackish on the ring. The cap looks right for it. What do you think?
Dave W
A bit old; ring has eroded away, gills are kinda ragged. Very likely a species of Stropharia, as you say, possibly S. coronilla. Another possibility is the yellow-capped variety of S. rugosoannulata https://mushroomobserver.org/238866?q=mdCr . S. hardii is yet another yellowish-capped Stropharia, but it is generally found in late summer or fall.
bobby b
Thanks Dave. Both of those looked a little too large or thick stemmed. Goin' back to look for them today.
