The grand old lady is gone!

Recommended Posts

2-3 years ago I posted a picture of our monster size White Oak. She was around 350 years old and was dying form a lightning strike she took a few years ago. Thanks to the high winds we have had this winter, she is gone. That is the one spot on our property that I found hens. Here are a couple of pictures I will share with you.

Dave, if you remember back I was having a heck of a time finding a hen. I had found them 2-3 years in a row under her but they were always too far along to use. Last year I finally got my timing right and collected 2 hens under her. I have also found the berkley's and a black staining polypore there. I'm sure she will keep feeding me for a while and I am considering starting some lions mane on some of the logs if I can get them to grow.
