diana Posted January 6, 2019 Report Share Posted January 6, 2019 Okay, I do know that this is an amanita. Always the prettiest mushrooms in the woods 😲 White almost translucent cap, no warts or powder. Long beautiful skirt. I thought I had taken more pictures but sometimes they just don't appear.. Dave W Posted January 6, 2019 Report Share Posted January 6, 2019 A key feature in Amanita ID is the base of the stalk, which you may need to dig up out of the ground. In the case of the Destroying Angels, one generally finds a basal volva consisting of a somewhat sack-like membrane with "limbs" extending upward. I'm pretty sure that's what you have here, one of the several NA Destroying Angel species.
