Dave W
Possibly Armillaria tabescens. Spore print color?
Vjhebert3
was unable to get a print good enough to photograph. but to my eyes is seems light orange, maybe even creamy yellow.
Dave W
Armillaria special all have creamy white spore prints, no yellow or orange pigment in the spore print. What type of surface did you collect the print on?
Vjhebert3
pvc coated aluminum sheet metal. one side white one side charcoal grey. works pretty good. more than likely i just didnt get decent print. ill be back at this property later today and i will attempt a better one with smaller specimens whose veils just opened. Dave W
A really young specimen may be too immature to drop spores. Maybe try ones that appear to represent a range of maturity levels. Do you mean "whose caps just opened"? The mushrooms appear to lack a partial veil (covering over immature gills). I don't see evidence of a universal veil either (covering over entire young mushroom).
