PilzMaxi
Hi there! I discovered a few of these in a half circle in my lawn in Southern California. Clusters of 1-3 so. The biggest cap was only 2 inches so far. They just popped up. When smaller they are fairly white but the large ones have a light brown cap and stem. White gills, fairly dense. No ring and even the small ones aren’t closed underneith. They have a pleasant smell. Faint peppery. Thank you for any help!
Dave W
Likely a west coast species that I haven't seen here in PA. But, a few characters point toward genus Hebeloma... adnexed gills attachment, shiny flakes on the upper stalk, and general appearance. Spore print color would help here.
