VaAngler
I finally was able to return and collect the Hen of the woods I had IDed last week! (I'll add photos to that post in the morning.) While harvesting I noticed another mushroom beginning to grow from the sides of the stump that the multiple hens were surrounding. I did not harvest any of this mushroom as I am still very uncertain of what it could be? I took a stab at it with Lion's mane optimistically bc we are starting to experience cold nights here and one source said the LM are a "winter mushroom"
CamilleR
No it's not a Hericium species. Maybe a Sarcodontia sp.

Could certainly be Sarcodontia, while comparing it to Sarcodontia I found images of Radulodon copelandii and it seems like a possibility as well. I should've gotten more/better photos I'm questioning if I have enough evidence to reach a conclusion on this one.
Dave W
I like the Sarcodonita proposal. Also, compare with Steccherinum ochraceum. Interesting. The spines do look like Hericium. But, the scattered growth habit (on the wood) is not typical of Hericium. So, I think it's something else.
