Mitmit7
HiEveryone! New to mushroom foraging and so excit d to find this new world!! Sooo I believe I stumbled upon Chaga at the Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. Everything I’ve read to date talks about it growing on birch and nothing about it on the roots which where I found it although don’t think it’s a birch. Pic below show it all around the tree roots and wallah it’s orange on the inside! Will post that when I get home. So good find or??
MattVa
Welcome, great group of very knowledgeable people here. Can't help you with the chaga but the tree looks like it's possibly oak.
