flipjargendy
Whenever I clean mushrooms or have some that aren't good to eat anymore, I toss them in the front yard. The scraps of shaggy manes are finally showing results!
troutddicted
Awesome! Ive been trying to seed mushrooms in this manner to no avail 😞 They usually end up in my veggie garden now, good goin' on those shaggys!!
flipjargendy
I've been throwing them out front for the past 5 years. This fall is the first I've seen any results. Of course, it's after we are about to sell the house. Looks like I'll have to sneak in here at night to harvest these in the future ;-)
bobby b
Cool, this is my first year scattering mushrooms around the house and in the woods behind the backyard. Hope it doesn't take 5 years. Shaggies are in my cross hairs. Wow so many mushrooms growing this year.
vitog
Something that should work faster than tossing old mushrooms into appropriate habitats is stem butt culture. If you carefully remove some nice, young mushrooms with a bit of soil attached to the base, you can cut off the stem butts with attached hyphae and plant them in any available good habitat. This works best with saprophytic fungi, like Shaggy Manes and Shaggy Parasols.
