Bob80
While walking the dog, I saw these mushrooms and while taking some pictures my dog decided she would eat one, I'm pretty sure I got is all out of her mouth, I'm thinking it's some type of Amanita. Any help would be appreciated ' Amanita Guessowii?
Matt McDermott
My guess is possibly Amanita rubescens.
troutddicted
Does it bruise reddish brown? To my under experienced eye I'd say this is an edible amanita but dont take my word for it
Bob80
yes I agree it is edible, too many bugs though.
Dave W
There are several different species in the Amanita amerirubescens group (NA "Blushing Amaniat"). At least one type --or probably several-- is considered edible when cooked. But, it may be somewhat toxic when consumed raw. Possibly harmless to a dog, but to be safe, the mushrooms should be removed from where the dog stays. The mushrooms seen in the photos here are almost certainly Blushing Amanata. GCn15
I am too chicken to even look at an amanita. I love my beer too much to risk losing my liver.
