bobby b
Looks like Megacollybia rodmani, or murina. Edible if ID is correct. Check it out on mushroomexpert.com.
Dave W
I'm fairly confident about Richgross's mushrooms being Megacollybia rodmani/murina. Some sources list murina as a variety of species rodmani. This is a very common mushroom that starts fruiting in spring and during some years continues to appear throughout the summer/fall months. It grows on decaying wood, woody debris, or buried wood (in which case it may appear to be terrestrial). Listed as edible in some filed guides, but there are also reports that some people are sensitive to it. I have tried it, but wasn't much impressed with the flavor. There's a third species/variety that has darkened gill edges (M. marginata). In many field guides these are called Tricholomopsis platyphylla. bobby b
Just fried some up. Dry pan fried with salt and pepper till most of the moisture was gone. Added a little butter and olive oil. They brown up real nice. Maybe could have cooked them a little longer. I like them.
