Tygrr
Hi I am new to this forum and new to mushroom picking. I forage wild edibles ( wild leeks, fiddleheads, trout lilies) while fishing streams but have avoided mushrooms. I am hoping this forum can help me identify those that I come across. I found this in a cluster on a dead log. It looks like a scaly hedgehog but the gills are short. Meat is firm and white.
mistergreen
I'm not an expert but looks like Cerioporus/Polyporus squamosus, dryad's saddle and pheasant's back mushroom. First rule of picking mushroom is don't eat anything you're unsure of.
Matt McDermott
Agree, Dryads. Will smell like watermelon rind.
