looked like a brown chanterelle but.....

We stopped to check out this mushroom today. It looked suspiciously like a brown colored chanterelle, but had pores "kind of like" a bolete. I thought it was interesting to say the least.

at first sight a brown cap and yellowish brown stem

yellow non staining pores or not

I'm not an expert in identifying Boletes, but this one looks like a Suillus to me, especially the "Large pore openings that are often arranged radially", to quote Michael Kuo in MushroomExpert.com. You might try his key to the Suillus species in North America.
