Natasha
Hello! Question for you, Ontario Shroomers! Are you finding any morels yet? Last year I found them in mid-May. This year has been an interesting winter and spring and all of a sudden this warm weather upon us. Wonder if it will bring along early morels? GJC
I was finding morels last year starting in late April, peaking around mid May.....I am hoping this sudden warm stretch will get things going but a lot of the indicators I look for aren't happening yet....might start seeing them this weekend but I think it will be mid May before they show up..... Natasha
Thanks GJC! I think this warm weather may bring them earlier. My spring flowers are all in bloom in my garden and trees are ready to show some leafs. My goal is to find a big mother load this year! Woohoo! rob
Was just up in Markdale, turkey hunting. Snow on Sunday morning and even after 30 degree days on Tues and Wed there was still six inches of snow in some of my morel spots. That being said those hot days and today's rain may get things kicking off. I could actually sit and watch the grass grow, on Tues, every time I'd look up from my book there would be more green sprouting. The trout lillies, leeks, and coltsfoot probably shot up 2 inches in a day.

Krull
They are out there. Found a few this morning under an Elm tree on a quick walk. In an area just outside of the GTA.
troutddicted
Hoping to get into some this weekend, the black flies are biting 😀
rob
Found five, on Sunday, with my buddies kids. They were pretty happy with those and a bag of young dryads. And yes the blackflies were #@$%@#$^ atrocious.
vulfbear
Went out this weekend in Scarborough and Brampton but came back empty-handed. Hoping for more luck this weekend!
shroomersue
Found some on May 24. Under maple(!) and tulip trees in forest setting. Unusual to hear from London ontario residents finding morels in their yards this year too. Last year only found one so I am happy they are back! Disco75
I found these Morels today. I was shocked at their size. I have eaten Morels much earlier in The year than this before. Just looking for an opinion to wether they are still good or not.
rob
I've dehydrated these late giants with good results. As long as they're not slimy or have an off odour, I'll take and dry these semi-dried late season finds.
Disco75
They are not slimy at all and the smell was perfect. Thanks for the tip as I was considering drying and turning into a powder for adding to recipes.
