Dave W
Found out yesterday that Gary Lincoff passed away. While still in his 30s, Gary authored the Audubon Guide to North American Mushrooms. Many of the names of the mushrooms have changed, but the information in this guide is still useful, and the number of species documented/photographed is incredible. I regularly use it when I'm stuck on an ID. But, there is more to Gary than the Audubon book. He always showed up at the annual NEMF foray, and was a frequent guest at many other regional/local forays. I always loved running into Gary at NEMF. He was accessible, humorous, always willing to share his knowledge, and his enthusiasm was a constant reminder that hunting/studying mushrooms is fun. John Smalldridge
Very sad indeed. I never met him, but did rely on his writings and videos of him to inform and encourage me to learn about mushrooms. It's always sad when a enthusiastic educator passes. Old Oak
That is sad. The Complete Mushroom Hunter was my first book.
The Vault Dweller
I have The National Audubon Society Field Guide to Mushrooms of North America on the side of my desk where it's been for years and used countless times. It has his name. I also met him at the NAMA 2016 foray.
