Vjhebert3
Orange mushroom 3/4 inch cap on average. Orange spore print. Found near oaks, black cherry, and almost always under blackberry and other brambles. Growing either single or in groups of 2-3. Very prolific, I saw hundreds within my 20 acres in louisiana. Temperature was around 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dave W
If you had not mentioned the orange spore print, I'd have guessed these were a species of Tricholomopsis. But this genus features white-spored mushrooms. Orange spore print supports these being a species of one of the genera Gymnopilus, Pholiota, or Flammula. It would possibly be helpful to see the entire stalk, including the base. Sometimes microscopic information is needed to distinguish among these possibilities. Vjhebert3
I, more than likely, won't have a chance to walk my own property for a few weeks. This one may just have to remain a mystery. Thank you so much for the info.
